The Society’s AGM, Lunch and Distinguished Guest Lecture  will take place on Saturday 1st June 2019 at The Lawns, Cottingham, HU16 5SQ

We are delighted that our Distinguished Guest Speaker will be Imtiaz Dharker who is widely regarded as one of Britain’s most inspirational contemporary poets. She was awarded the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry in 2014, is a prescribed poet on the GCSE English syllabus, and has been poet in residence at Cambridge University Library and a guest on Desert Island Discs. In 2018, Imtiaz took part in the BBC’s ‘Contains Strong Language’ festival in Hull  which showcased a new piece of contemporary dance inspired by her  poem ‘This Tide of Humber.’

The programme for the day is as follows:

12noon   –   AGM

12.30pm –   Terrace Bar open

1.15pm   –   Lunch

2.30pm   –   Distinguished Guest Speaker

 

The lecture is free of charge and all are welcome.
