Meet the members Zoom: Wednesday 10th March 2021

We might be getting a bit tired of using our screens to meet our friends and family in this last year, but events like this remind us of how we have all undergone a brilliant tech revolution that lets us all get together wherever we are in the world, in a way the PLS could have only dreamed of a couple of years ago!

Of course we look forward to seeing each other in person before too long. However, this second Meet the Members  Zoom gathering was great fun with around 30 of us from all different walks of life and different links to Philip Larkin. There were members who had only signed up in the last year or two, members that have been there right from the start, podcast guests, trustees, people who had met Larkin in person, Larkin academics, artists and musicians and at least one overseas member (Ross joining us from lunchtime Colorado).

Subjects under discussion included: Larkin100 plans; Larkin’s statue;  reaching out to schools: Larkin studies at UK universities; Larkin the librarian: Larkin’s travels to Europe; Larkin’s links to the Isle of Wight, South Wales, Coventry and Dorset, and ideas for future PLS activities such as a PLS YouTube account.

Thank you to Phil Pullen for hosting the evening and to everyone for coming along with a glass a wine or a cup of tea and lots of friendly faces and laughter.

We hope to hold another Meet the Member’s Zoom once again as we get closer to summer.
