We have developed a bit of a tradition of recording readings of Larkin’s poems for the podcast- obviously we always encourage our podcast guests to read their favourite Larkin poems- but in 2021, 2022 and 2024 we have featured whole epsiodes devoted to reading Larkin’s poems. After the success of last year’s full reading of High Windows, featuring HVPs Stewart Lee and Andrew Motion among many others, we decided that this year we should celebrate the 70 year anniversary of the publication of The Less Deceived with another full reading.

We begin with an introduction to the collection with regular attendees of the podcast, our Chair, Graham Chesters, and trustee Philip Pullen, and we reflect on some of the history of the publication of The Less Deceived, and some of the very special readings in the podcast. Famous names include the wonderful actor Cate Blanchett.

as well as 1980s punk icon Adam and the Ant’s guitarist Marco Pirroni

Also included are readings by poets Brian Bilston, Hannah Sullivan and Sinead Morrissey, and cult US actor Greg Sestero alongside PLS trustees, members and supporters.
